Hollywood Park, Horse racing

Hollywood Park picks for Saturday, Nov. 23

FIRST RACE: 1. Being There, 2. Lieutenant Seany O., 3. Coolington. LONG SHOT: Shoemeister.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Jonny’s Choice, 2. Bro’s Bro, 3. Field Report. LONG SHOT: Full Instinct.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Rhodium, 2. Roust ‘Em Bertie, 3. Pretzel Logic. LONG SHOT: Two Blue Hens.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Mini Candy, 2. Another Victoria, 3. Tiz Bliss. LONG SHOT: She’s Flush.

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of horses who can run in this 2-year-old filly maiden claimer so why not go with the fresh face like Mini Candy? This daughter of Candy Ride doesn’t have any flashy works but it does have leading trainer John Sadler and leading rider Rafael Bejarano in her corner.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Depreciable, 2. Mr. Candy Bar, 3. Husband’s Folly. LONG SHOT: Tama County.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Browsing, 2. A P Pepper, 3. Fashionably Rich. LONG SHOT: Pretty Storm.

Jockey Edwin Maldonado and his agent could have had their choice of three horses in here, two of which showed speed and fade last time out. Instead, they stick with BROWSING, a 2-year-old daughter of Dixie Chatter, which got off to a slow start but closes like an express train last time to get second against slightly easier. She has a couple of good works over the track since and looks ready to go for Sadler.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Salsita, 2. Famous Alice, 3. Sweet as a Rose. LONG SHOT: Birthday Surprise.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Life Is a Joy, 2. Green Mask, 3. Tamarando. LONG SHOT: Beach Hut.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Moment of Weakness, 2. Affliction, 3. Red Sharp Humor. LONG SHOT: Tour Ireland.

Hollywood Park picks for Sunday, November 17

FIRST RACE: 1. Two Term Leader, 2. Tahoe Flash, 3. Kafister. LONG SHOT: He’s Not Bluffin.

Just a hunch here. Jockey Vandyke is making his first career start here on TWO TERM LEADER for trainer Tom Proctor and Glen Hill Farm. My thought is this horse is going to to be gunned to the lead for a wire-to-wire win. We’ll see.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. As Good as Gold, 2. Tama County, 3. Blue Collar Boy. LONG SHOT: Bobby Flay.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Ciao Bella Luna, 2. Qiaona, 3. Curvy Cat. LONG SHOT: Sister Kate.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Super Reagan, 2. Unusual Fleet, 3. Ron’s Boy. LONG SHOT: This Cat’s Awesome.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Northern Iowa, 2. Holy Candy, 3. Curly Top. LONG SHOT: Admission.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Yana, 2. Mia Luccia, 3. Reflective Glory. LONG SHOT: Casey’s Clem.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Somethings Unusual (best bet), 2. Uncle Dick, 3. Rangi. LONG SHOT: Empty Headed.

Jockey Joe Talamo could have ridden a couple of horses in here, but decides to stick with this 5-year-old SOMETHINGS UNUSUAL. The gelding finished second down the hill at Santa Anita and now stretches out. He has won 2-of-3 tries on this turf course and once at today’s distance. He could be rounding back into form for trainer Don Warren.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Betty Bing Bing, 2. Global Hottie, 3. Our Glitter Ball. LONG SHOT: Euroclydon.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Live the Forth, 2. Splemdiferious Moon, 3. Warren’s Judy. LONG SHOT: Totaly Blonde.

Santa Anita picks for Sunday Oct. 6

Working on some other things today so will try to have picks up later, especially for Pick 6 carryover.

NINTH RACE: #2 Rob’s Pal

This 3-year-old gelding gets a huge jockey change from Jorge Carreno to Julien Leparoux, who excels on the turf and that’s where this race is. Rob’s Pal only lost by 2¼ lengths at Del Mar and should be able to make that up against this field.

Saturday’s top choice winners: 1 (Drover Crazy $11.80, fifth race).

Saturday’s second choice winners: 3 (Tama County $10, third; Points Offthebench $11.20, ninth; Cal Gal $32, 10th).

Saturday’s third choice winners: 3 (Miss Pippa $9, second; No Jet Lag $28.20, fourth; Teddy’s Promise $5.40, seventh).

Saturday’s long shot winners: 0.
