Santa Anita picks for Thursday, March 20

FIRST RACE: 1. Silk in Silver, 2. Kid Rollins, 3. Bully’s Magic Girl. LONG SHOT: Puligny.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Wine Country Wanda (best bet), 2. Itsabeautifulday, 3. Visions of Candy. LONG SHOT: Cleverly Beverly.

Trainer Eric Kruljac rarely cranks them up first time and WINE COUNTRY WANDA, a daughter of Stormy Jack, got off to a slow start in her debut, but she came on in the stretch, just like her sire use to do. Apprentice jockey Drayden Van Dyke (4-for-18 last week) will get an extra furlong to work with here.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Candy for Debbie, 2. Harlington Night, 3. Mind the Master. LONG SHOT: Pulpit’s Express.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Our Glitter Ball, 2. Tickle Again, 3. Ryderroo. LONG SHOT: Betty Bing Bing.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Hugh Knew, 2. Lamazone, 3. An Unusual Group. LONG SHOT: Carnival Lights.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Heir of Storm, 2. Omega Star, 3. War Academy. LONG SHOT: Circle the Moon.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Monument, 2. Rangi, 3. Incline Village. LONG SHOT: Thunder Rode.

Jockey Gary Stevens very rarely rides for leading trainer John Sadler (four times in the last two years), but this is his second mount for the pair on the card. This 4-year-old, MONUMENT, showed a bit of spark in the stretch in his first try down the hill last time and with that experience it could propel him into the winner’s circle here.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Raja’s Rose, 2. Alice Roadtrain, 3. Divine Josephine. LONG SHOT: Royal Shaft.

Santa Anita picks for Sunday, March 9

FIRST RACE: 1. Runaway Wildcat, 2. My Jealous, 3. Keyboard Courage. LONG SHOT: Dunmore East.

RUNAWAY WILDCAT, a 6-year-old gelding, drops below his claiming price for trainer Adam Kitchingman, but this shouldn’t be looked at as a negative. They will still make plenty of money on the deal if the horse wins and gets claimed. The son of Golden Missile loves this track (three wins) and he just missed against tougher. Speed jockey Edwin Maldonado jumps on and he’s won with him before.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Prince of Paris, 2. Even Echo, 3. Bluegrass Fox Trot. LONG SHOT: Warren’s Sallyized.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Quinnette, 2. Sea John’s Spirit, 3. Sagebrush Queen. LONG SHOT: Yawannagokid.

QUINNETTE, a daughter of Stormy Jack, has eight lifetime wins while the rest of the field has a total of seven. Trainer Ron Ellis puts his horses in spots to win and 5-year-old is 2-for-2 over the Santa Anita dirt. Jockey Mike Smith stays aboard.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Sheer Talent, 2. Handsome Dennis, 3. Fort Wagner. LONG SHOT: Rambling House.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Gab Power, 2. Fit to Rule, 3. Chicsdigtheshark. LONG SHOT: Graeme Crackerjack.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Missing Groom (best bet), 2. Nooten, 3. Southern Digs. LONG SHOT: Rolo Tamaci.

I might like MISSING GROOM, a son of Colonel John, more if this were a mile on the turf, but it’s 6½ furlongs going down the hill. This 3-year-old split the field of 10 in his career debut at Del Mar and figures to have grown up and gotten stronger. The turf is fine and jockey Corey Nakatani is master riding it for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Judy the Beauty, 2. Warm Breeze, 3. Munnings Sister. LONG SHOT: Heir Kitty.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Oscar Party, 2. Remise, 3. Freedom Reigns. LONG SHOT: Fantastic Mizz.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Nueva Fortuna, 2. Swiss Peak, 3. My Wish Come True. LONG SHOT: Diablita.
