Like horses cutting back from two turns to down the hill. Maybe that will wake up this underachiever, KENJISSTORM (12-1). Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith takes over and the son of Stormy Atlantic is coming out of a key race.

BRONZO (8-1), a South American import, finished fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and was moved to the Neil Drysdale barn afterwards. Jockey Gary Stevens jumps on in this tough race. The 6-year-old gelding has been training well and should relish the extra distance of this race.

CONTESSA b., a 3-year-old, ships in from Churchill Downs, where he finished third in an open $50,000 claimer and he drops into a starter allowance. Plus he goes for the dynamite team from yesterday of jockey Kent Desormeaux and trainer Bob Hess Jr., who have won 3-of-5 races this year at the meet.

QUOTIENT finished third in the Grade II American Turf at Churchill Downs and now drops into an allowance race. Jockey Victor Espinoza rides for trainer John Sadler and Espinoza figures to have this son of Stormy Atlantic forwardly placed early.

ROUGH PASSAGE, a 3-year-old colt, comes out of a key race on March 8 where the top two finishers came back to win. This son of Stormy Atlantic missed winning by a half length and gets the services of speed jockey Edwin Maldonado here. Also trainer Kristin Mulhall’s barn has started to heat up after a cold winter.

IPOLITA, a filly trained by Ron Ellis, returns to the level where she almost won two races ago. Ellis is 58% with horses coming off a 61-180-day layoff and regular jockey Joe Talamo rides back.

This 5-year-old mare, FLORAL ROMANCE, makes her dirt debut after 11 races on the grass. She seems to have trained well on the dirt and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer gets Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith to ride. Could be a home run or strike out in this Grade III event.
