Belmont Park, Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita (and one Belmont) opinions for Sunday, May 31

Race 5: #8 Relentless Heat (4-1)

This gelding hasn’t won in a while, but trainer Bill Spawr might have the magic formula. Spawr is 42% in his last 26 tries going route to sprint. This 8-year-old should be plenty fit in the lane to get the job done with Joe Talamo aboard.

Race 9: #5 Seattle Boom (5-1)

This 3-year-old had a tough trip from the gate in his first start, but maybe that sets him up for a better effort here. The sire War Front is 16% on the grass and trainer Craig Dollase put a good work into him last time..

BELMONT PARK

Race 5: #4 True Rate (20-1)

Trainer Susan Cooney ships this New York-bred back to the Empire State after a sixth-place finish against open competition at Pimlico. However, that race has produced four next out winners and this gelding is running against styate breds for only the second time in his career. Worth a shot.
