Santa Anita opinions for Friday, June 17

Preview: Now that Golden Gate has finished its meet in Northern California you will see plenty of horses shipping south to either score at Santa Anita or get in a race before a money run at Del Mar.

Race 5 – SA
#5 Halo Darlin (5-1): This filly makes her turf debut for trainer Mike Puype. Jockey Joe Talamo keeps the mount on this daughter of Lucky Pulpit, who gets 9% first out grass winners. This filly had the top late pace rating from Brisnet in her last race at Los Alamitos.

Race 8 – SA
#6 Watch Me Now (4-1): This filly was claimed out of her last race by trainer Doug O’Neill, who is 20% first off the claim. O’Neill is also 23% with beaten favorites and 20% with jockey Flavien Prat, who jumps aboard.

Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, Feb. 11

Preview: Not a great card so tread carefully. As we said previously apprentice David Lopez is riding great and loses his bug at the end of March so look for him to ride as many horses as possible.

Race 2: #6 Bistro Lights (4-1)

Trainer Dean Pederson is 25% (2-for-8) first off the claim and he puts veteran Santiago Gonzalez aboard. Pederson is also 30% with maiden claimers.

==

 Race 8: #8 Saint Dermot (6-1)

Trainer Andy Mathis ships down from Northern California and he is 32% going from an All-Weather track to the dirt. This gelding has won twice on this dirt track so the surface should be no problem.

Santa Anita picks for Monday, Jan. 20 (updated)

FIRST RACE: 1. Sister Glady Oh La, 2. Gittel, 3. Holiday N Newport. LONG SHOT: Fiesta Express.

SISTER GLADY OH LA gave an even effort sprinting in her return to the races last month and now she gets to do what she wants: route. She has won three times at this distance, granted it was in Northern California, but she has a nose for the finish line.

Trainer Eric Kruljac drops SINGLEINTHELAST into a maiden claimer for the first time and he’s 30% with that move. On top of that he puts apprentice Drayden Vandyke aboard so look for a send job from the outside post and she should have enough speed to clear.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. One Magical Girl, 2. Mia Isabel, 3. Warren’s Judy. LONG SHOT: Jet Blue Girl.

Jockey Kayla Stra has had a great Hollywood Park meet with limited opportunities and she scored on a bomber again on Friday. Here she picks up the mount on this 4-year-old filly ONE MAGICAL GIRL, trained by Northern California-based John Martin. However, this filly has won before at Hollywood Park and looks to do it again for a 28% winning trainer.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Moon Ride (best bet), 2. Miss Go Free, 3. Frannie’sspirttoo. LONG SHOT: Red Red Door.

Rafael Bejarano is trying to win another riding title and figures to be riding with zeal on the final day at Hollywood Park. Trainer Mike Puype puts blinkers on and drops this 3-year-old filly MOON RIDE to her lowest level ever looking to break her maiden.

Del Mar picks, Thursday July 25

 FIRST RACE: 1. Dancing Lute, 2. Egyptian Femme, 3. Devious Chic. LONG SHOT: Say Say.

Northern California shippers have done well at the meet and DANCING LUTE has two wins in four lifetimes races. Plus, he gets the services of leading rider Rafael Bejarano.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Miss Lafayette, 2. Cadron, 3. L T Reckless. LONG SHOT: Fashionable Rich.

Tough 2-year-old filly race here with trainer Bob Baffert holding two cards in CADRON and EXOTIC BEHAVIOR. However, trainer Craig Dollase has been on fire with first-time starters of late and MISS LAFAYETTE has been training well. The only drawback is starting from the No. 1 post.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Shadow Runner, 2. Facoltoso, 3. Lil Bit O’Fun. LONG SHOT: Deputiformer.

SHADOW RUNNER is first off the claim for trainer Richard Baltas, who is 2-for-5 in that move. On top of that, Bejarano sees fit to ride and they have teamed up to win 4-of-12 races.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. JAZILLIONAIRE (best bet), 2. Afflication, 3. Matagot. LONG SHOT: Annunaki.

JAZILLIONAIRE is by Belmont Stakes winner Jazil and bred to like this trip. He puts blinkers on and has a big work over the Polytrack. All systems say go with jockey Joe Talamo.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Sugar Spice, 2. Salty Forecast, 3. Abella. LONG SHOT: Saturday Nite Wish.

SUGAR SPICE has been away from the races since January, but has been working well for her return and comes out of a key race.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Kid Dreams, 2. Bench Light, 3. Danderek. LONG SHOT: Vibrate Jazz.

KID DREAMS was sent to Canada to try to run in the Queen’s Plate, but just wasn’t good enough. He returns to the Polytrack locally after getting severely interfered with in a fourth-place effort at Woodbine. Look for an improved effort.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Castaway, 2. Chiloquin, 3. Mobilized. LONG SHOT: Isn’t He Clever.

CASTAWAY comes off a break freshening for Baffert and Bejarano stays aboard. Some times taking the short price is the right way to go.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Patriot C H, 2. Tickle Again, 3. Hot and Pleasing. LONG SHOT: Sidepocket Run.

PATRIOT C H makes the second start of her career. Victor Espinoza jumps off HOT AND PLEASING to ride her for trainer Carla Gaines. The Harris Farm homebred should relish the turf and the distance.
