Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, June 23

Preview: Grass racing is over until Del Mar and it shows in the card. There are three $20K maiden claiming races. The jockey’s race continues to see-saw as Rafael Bejarano has 33 victories and Flavien Prat has 32.

Race 6 – SA
#1 Hawk’s Eyes (6-1): This horse comes out of a possible key race as Thanksgiving Day won over the weekend. The 7-year-old has won over the track before and trainer Lorenzo Ruiz is 26% in dirt races.

Race 7 – SA
#4 Armored Car (4-1): Trainer Leonard Powell is 2-for-3 second off the claim and 43% when he has a horse going sprint-sprint-route. Jockey Tyler Baze jumps on.

Santa Anita early opinions for Thursday, Oct. 30 (updated)

Sorry no other picks today. Some times life gets in the way of horses. We’ll have Friday’s BC picks up later today and catch on twitter later today for any other opinions I might have. Thanks for reading.

Race 3: #4 Coyotero (12-1)

The light bulb turned in that last maiden claiming victory and since that time this 4-year-old gelding has been throwing nothing but bullets in the morning for trainer Leonard Powell and jockey Saul Arias. This isn’t the toughest group in the world so bomber might be the right call.

Race 6: #5 Erte (12-1)

We are not the biggest fans of trainer Peter Eurton with first-timers, but we love offspring of Street Boss on the turf and first time out. This 2-year-old filly has been training steady in the mornings and Eurton is 21% with jockey Martin Garcia.
