Trainer Michelle Nevin starts this 2-year-old filly by Congrats, who is 12% with first-timers. The dam has dropped five winners, including two stakes winners. Nevin is 11% with debuting MSW types and jockey Jose Ortiz is 7 for his last 23 rides.

==

Race 5: #1 Baby B (12-1)

This filly hasn’t had munch success on the turf so it’s time to go back to the dirt, where she finished third in her only try. Trainer Richard Schosberg is 30% going turf to dirt. She is also dropping to a career low in claiming ranks and hopefully hot jockey Jose Ortiz will put her on the lead with her speed.

GULFSTREAM PARK

Race 4: #5 Hard to Picture (3-1)

Trainer Michael Petro, who has a lot of horses for owner Frank Calabrese, is 6-for-9 with horse making their second start on the turf. The daughter of Hard Spun finished fourth in her debut at Churchill Downs. Apprentice jockey Tyler Gaffalione (38% with Petro) takes the mount.

==

Race 5: #5 R Quick Temper (5-1)

Don’t be fooled by the trainer’s name on this 2-year-old filly. Sally Mitchelhill is the listed trainer, but this horse is really trained by Kirk Ziadie, who hasn’t had his license renewed by the state. The daughter Elusive Quality has some good works over at Calder the sire is 13% with firsters.

Santa Anita (plus Gulfstream) opinions for Sunday, June 21

Race 1: #2 Jaded With Envy (7-2)

Trainer Richard Baltas is 36% with horses returning as a beaten favorite. He is also 21% on the turf and 22% in route races. Good turf jockey Corey Nakatani takes over the reins.

==

Race 8: #6 Right There (6-1)

There is a ton of speed in this stakes for 2-year-old fillies and while this daughter of Eskendereya is still maiden she rates a big shot. She should enjoy the added distance and she’s only filly who came from off the pace in her last race. I look for jockey Kent Desormeaux to use similar tactics in this spot.

==

GULFSTREAM PARK

Race 8: #4 Native Gold (5-1)

Trainer Kirk Ziadie is 42% with horses third off the layoff. Additionally, this horse comes out of race that has already produced two winners plus this horse has won 4-of-7 at today’s distance and has won four times over this racetrack.

Race 4 – SA

#3 All Around Brown

This gelding drops to the bottom of the maiden claiming ranks and his last race, despite going two turns, puts him right there and jockey Iggy Puglisi stays for trainer Mike Puype. There’s a real good work coming into this spot.

==

Race 9 – SA

#8 Unusual Alex

Trainer Richard Mandella is 3-for-7 second time he puts a horse on the the grass. This son of Unusual Heat should improve off that horrible debut. The sire is 15% on the turf and jockey Alex Solis stays aboard.

Race 8 – GP

#7 Gentlemans Agreement (6-1)

This Louisiana-bred is 2-for-2 in his career and now tries open company in Florida for trainer Leo Gabriel Jr. The son of Yankee Gentleman likes to press the pace before taking over and if it rains he owns a win in the mud.
