Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Friday, March 25

Preview: There was a 50% chance of rain starting Thursday night so grass racing doesn’t look good for today or the rest of the weekend. Like the sixth race on the turf, but the weather gets me off it but if it stays oon look hard at #4 Harmnotic (8-1).

Race 1 – Tam

#1 Gasolina (5-2): Trainer Efren Loza Jr. is 41% at the meet, shipping some down from Gulfstream Park like he does with this colt. The 3-year-old drops in class and gets leading rider Antonio Gallardo. Loza is 27% going from a route to a sprint so this colt is plenty fit.

Race 3 – Tam

#2 Angel Falls (7-2): Stays at the same level after claim by trainer Thomas McCooey Jr., who is 31% first off the claim. This filly is also coming out of a key race that has produced two winners so far.

Race 4: #5 Megan’s Muse (5-2)

This filly just gave an even effort on the grass so trainer John Terranova drops her and he is 6-for-8 (75%) when dropping a horse two or more levels. Jockey Jose Ferrer keeps the mount.

Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Sunday, Jan. 31

Preview: Not a great card as the fields are smaller than usual and there are just nine races.

==

Race 4: 11 Skiffs Brewmeister (6-1)

This gelding has the top Brisnet class rating but has two problems here: he must draw into the race and he will have an outside post if he does. Still, the due of jockey Antonio Gallardo and trainer Kathleen O’Connell have won at a 37% clip over the last 60 days.

==

Race 6: #3 Break the Silence (4-1)

Trainer G. Ray Trisler is having his best meet in years at Tampa with seven victories. Jockey Fernando De La Cruz is 4-for-6 with Trisler. This gelding is coming off a maiden claiming win and showed speed and might try the same tactics against winners.

 ==

Race 9: #3 Bluesville (turf only) (5-2)

Trainer Kathleen O’Connell has had a huge meet and she was forced to run this mare on the main track last time after the race came off the turf. This mare is dropping in class and should be ready for a big effort under jockey Jose Ferrer.

==

Race 2: #6 Ms Hoochie Coochie (9-2)

==

Race 6: #9 Quality Hey (7-2)

Trainer Keith Nations has been trying to figure out this filly as he sprinted her and then went long. He cuts her back here and he speed and stamina should be tough. Nation is 31% with horses in their third race off a layoff.  – J

==

Race 8: #3 Hey Girl Hey (4-1)

This filly’s lone turf try at Gulfstream Park West should be tough to beat at this level. Trainer Kathleen O’Connell is 30% with class droppers at Tampa. Jockey Ronnie Allen Jr. is 21% with O’Connell at the meet.

Lots of quality so do your handicapping accordingly. Obviously Antonio Gallardo leads all jockeys on both the turf and dirt. The other top three turf jockeys are Daniel Centeno, Ronnie Allen Jr., and Fernando De la Cruz. Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Friday, Jan. 15
