Del Mar, Horse racing

Del Mar selections for Thursday, Aug. 27

FIRST RACE: 1. Ike Walker, 2. Doyouknowsomething, 3. Jens de Ville. LONG SHOT: Papa Kade.

==
SECOND RACE: 1. Treasuring, 2. Jade Princess, 3. Shakti. LONG SHOT: Wake the Dawn.
==
THIRD RACE: 1. Sinfully, 2. Antinanco, 3. City State. LONG SHOT: Okaad.
==
FOURTH RACE: 1. #5 Bosserette (10-1), 2. Pearl de Vere, 3. Sweet Profit. LONG SHOT: Mark of a Gem.

Trainer Howard Zucker drops this 4-year-old filly into a claimer for the first time. She ran credible in her first race in a year last time and should be tighter this time. Jockey Joe Talamo takes over. Zucker is 17% on the turf.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. HANK THE TANK (5-2) best bet, 2. I’m Not Bullish, 3. Jimmy the Juice. LONG SHOT: Big Finish.

This son of In Summation is bred to sprint and he makes his career debut for trainer Peter Miller, who is seeking the Del Mar training title. There are some quick works at San Luis Rey Downs and Miller is 27% with first-timers. Miller is also 29% with jockey Martin Garcia the last 60 days.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Take Back Spring (8-1), 2. Kyankes, 3. Housemaker. LONG SHOT: Showcase Winner.

Trainer Kristin Mulhall is pulling out all of the stops here as she adds blinkers (27%) to this daughter of Spring at Last. It may look like the filly is moving up in class but she’s going from facing older fillies and mares to only facing 3-year-olds here.

SEVENTH RACE: 1. All Run, 2. Gravity Force, 3. Swiss Cheese. LONG SHOT: Overcomer.
==

Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Saturday, March 28

Race 4: #7 Annabella Hall (6-1)

This is strictly a hunch play in that leading jockey Antonio Gallardo doesn’t need to ride every race so he must have been given a pretty good story by low percentage barn and she has a good work over the track.

Race 8 – Tam

#2 On Spirit River (7-2) ****

Our Eyes:  Trainer Jamie Ness isn’t exactly known for winning in the maiden ranks and especially with first-timers, yet he does to the tune of 32% and he has his No. 1 man, Antonio Gallardo (41%), aboard this son of in In Summation, whose offspring win 13% of the time first time out.

Race 5: #1 Rbandzmakeherdance (2-1)

Trainer Kirk Ziadie normally runs at Gulfstream Park but sends this 4-year-old filly to Tampa for her first start. Ziadie is 42% with first-timers and the sire In Summation is 12% first time out. Leading jockey Antonio Gallardo jumps on.

==

Race 9: #7 Watch This Cat (turf only) (4-1)

This 3-year-old filly broke her maiden over the course and now moves to the allowance ranks for trainer Mark Casse, who is 23% with horses second time on the turf. Jockey Gary Boulanger keeps the mount for this filly who comes from off the pace.

Breeders' Cup, Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita early picks for Saturday, Nov. 1 (Breeders’ Cup Day 2) UPDATED

Well, the rain did come to SoCal, shockingly last night and this morning. The first and third races are off the turf. The main track has been sealed twice so watch to see if there is a speed bias and change your handicapping accordingly. The turf course is listed as good. Jockey Gary Stevens said yesterday horses were already getting into it so that means it really wasn’t firm so check how horses did on softer turf.

We didn’t do too bad on Friday with nine winners coming from our top three and the 10th winner was our fourth choice following a scratch in the first race.

FIRST RACE (Juvenile Turf Sprint): 1.  #3 Ocho Ocho Ocho, 2. Tizcano, 3. Guilty, 4. Cool Comfort. LONG SHOT: Metaboss.  OFF THE TURF NEW PICKS: 1. Ocho Ocho Ocho, 2. Tizcano, 3. Peacenluvpeacenluv, 4. Not Enough Eddie. LONG SHOT: Crown the Kitten.

This 2-year-old, Ocho Ocho Ocho, (8-1), had a big work before his debut and won like a good thing. Now the son of Street Sense has had a good work before his turf debut for trainer Jim Cassidy and it end with a trip to the winner’s circle. Jockey Joe Talamo keeps the mount.

==

SECOND RACE (Golden State Juvenile): 1. Smack Talk, 2. Acceptance, 3. Wake Up Nick, 4. Mischief Clem. LONG SHOT: Pulmarack (SCRATCHED) new long shot: Commanche Ruler.

==

THIRD RACE (The Senator Ken Maddy, Grade III): 1. Richies Party Girl, 2. Velvet Mesquite, 3. Llandudno, 4. Biorhythm. LONG SHOT: Ageless. OFF THE TURF. NEW PICKS: 1. Richies Party Girl, 2. Warm Breeze, 3..Amaranth, 4. Velvet Mesquite. LONG SHOT: Fanicola.

==

FOURTH RACE (JUVENILE FILLES): 1. Puca, 2. Angela Renee, 3. Cristina’s Journey, 4. By The Moon. LONG SHOT: Feathered.

==

FIFTH RACE (F&M TURF): 1. Just The Judge, 2. Dank,  3. Dayatthespa, 4. Abaco. LONGSHOT: Secret Gesture.

==

SIXTH RACE (F&M SPRINT): 1. Judy The Beauty, 2. Little Alexis, 3. Stonetastic, 4. Southern Honey. LONG SHOT: Artemis Agrotera.

==

SEVENTH RACE (TURF SPRINT): 1. Ambitious Brew, 2. Undrafted, 3. No Nay Never, 4. Caspar Netscher. LONG SHOT: Silentio.

==

EIGHTH RACE (JUVENILE): 1. Calculator (SCRATCHED), 2. Souper Colossal, 3. Carpe Diem, 4. One Lucky Dane. LONG SHOT: The Great War. NEW PICKS: 1. Souper Colossal, 2. Texas Red, 3. Carpe Diem, 4. Daredevil. LONG SHOT: One Lucky Dane.

CALCULATOR (8-1), a son of In Summation, is still a maiden, but that’s because he has lost twice in a row in stakes action to American Pharoah, who was the morning-line favorite until he was scratched on Tuesday. This 2-year-old has been training under the radar at San Luis Rey Downs for trainer Peter Miller and the inside draw should work out just fine. After the rains last night, Calculator has scratched, too bad.

==

NINTH RACE: (TURF): 1. Telescope (best bet), 2. Flintshire, 3. Chicquita, 4. Imagining. LONG SHOT: Brown Panther.

==

10TH RACE: (SPRINT): 1. Fast Anna, 2. Rich Tapestry, 3. Secret Circle, 4. Indianapolis. LONG SHOT: Big Macher.
