Del Mar, Horse racing, Tampa Bay Downs

Del Mar selections for Saturday, Nov. 28 (Plus Tampa Bay Downs)

FIRST RACE: 1. Roper, 2. Financial, 3. Spirit World. LONG SHOT: Adair.

==
SECOND RACE: 1, Tulira Castle, 2. Alex Rossi, 3. Airfoil. LONG SHOT: I’ll Wrap It Up.
==
THIRD RACE: 1. #4 UNDENIABLE U (9-2) (BEST BET), 2. Path of David, 3. Archaeo. LONG SHOT: Silent Movies.

Trainer Bob Baffert isn’t known as a turf trainer, but he is 31% with horses making their second route race. Jockey Victor Espinoza just missed last time with the well-regarded Canada.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Etailer, 2. Eddie Haskell, 3. Lymebyrd. LONG SHOT: Demonslayer.
==
FIFTH RACE: 1. Mokat, 2. Optimism And Hope, 3. Wake the Dawn. LONG SHOT: Jeremy’s Legacy.
==
SIXTH RACE: 1. #7 Tribal Jewel (8-1), 2. Storm Comin Thru, 3. True Ten. LONG SHOT: Roman Tizzy.

Trainer Peter Miller claimed this gelding last time and runs him back in the same spot. Miller is 24% first off the claim and has put a couple of big works into him. Jockey Brice Blanc jumps on and he is 2-for-4 with Miller.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Royal Albert Hall, 2. March, 3. Om. LONG SHOT: Closing Bell.
==
EIGHTH RACE: 1. Dortmund, 2. Big Cazanova, 3. Imperative. LONG SHOT: Majestic City.
==
NINTH RACE: 1. #6 Hunt (7-2), 2. Roy H, 3. Unusual Fleet. LONG SHOT: Follow Me Crev.

This 3-year-old finished fourth in the Twilight Derby and many he faced will be running earlier on the card in the Hollywood Derby so we should have a good handle on whether that is a key race. Jockey Mike Smith stays aboard for trainer Phil D’Amato and they are a 26% combination.

Tampa Bay Downs for Saturday, Nov. 28

Race 3: #2 Horn Buckle (5-1)

This gelding reeled off three wins at this track last winter and trainer Victor Carrasco Jr. looks to strike on the first day of the new meet. Carrasco is 30% with horses moving down two of more classes.

==

Race 6: #9 Ishaq (7-2)

Trainer Efren Loza Jr. is 44% with first-time starters like this son of Harlan’s Holiday and he employs jockey Pedro Cotto Jr., who has won 5-of-11 races for Loza this year. There are decent works showing and we think this one is ready to run.

==

Race 9 : #2 Fascinante (7-2)

Efren Loza Jr. is a high-percentage trainer in a lot of areas, including 35% with shippers like this 5-year-old mare, who is a perfect 2-for-2 over this turf course. Pedro Cotto Jr. rides another Loza.

Hollywood Park picks for Sunday, December 1

FIRST RACE: 1. Oneandonlyloveman, 2, Oh Daddy Oh, 3. Heyyoucan. LONG SHOT: Harbaugh.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Coco de Carchy, 2. Magestic Stinger, 3. Midnight Lady. LONG SHOT: J K’s Mischief.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Big Wags, 2. Dress Code, 3. Would You. LONG SHOT: Magic Beam.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Snaps, 2. Well Lawyered, 3. Maxx the Giant. LONG SHOT: Pot Roast.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Street Car, 2. King Maya, 3. Private Bounty. LONG SHOT: Space Runner.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Seek Again, 2. Admiral Kitten, 3. Jack ilton. LONG SHOT: Rookie Sensation.

Very interesting running of the Grade I Hollywood Derby. European-based trainer John Gosden, who formerly trained in Southern California, ships in with this 3-year-old son of Speightstown named SEEK AGAIN and acquires the services of Corey Nakatani, who is one of the best grass jockeys in the colony. This Juddmonte Farms colt isn’t here for the exercise and his Racing Post rating has been improving all year.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. China Girl Lover, 2. Proven Warrior, 3. Battled. LONG SHOT: Secretsatmidnight.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Dayatthespa, 2. Discreet Marq, 3. Tiz Flirtatious. LONG SHOT: Better Lucky.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Wild Dude, 2. Five Palms, 3. Demonic. LONG SHOT: Syndicated.

==

TENTH RACE: 1. Sizzlin’ Joe, 2. Copper Bay, 3. Ransom Canyon. LONG SHOT: Very Unusual.

On big stakes days when jockeys from out-of-town stick around for the last race of the day, instead of packing for the flight home, they must be live. Such is the case here with this 4-year-old gelding SIZZLIN’ JOE, which Joel Rosario will ride for trainer Marty Jones. The offspring of Unusual Heat drops into a claimer for the first time in his career and that might be the magic potion.

==

SEVEN RACE: 1. Summer Front (best bet), 2. Silentio, 3. Winning Prize. LONG SHOT: Bright Thought.

Just throw SUMMER FRONT’s last race at Keeneland which was moved from the turf to the Polytrack. When you do that he is 2-for-3 on the grass this year and Eastern-based trainer Christophe Clement and jockey Joe Bravo aren’t coming out for the Thanksgiving leftovers. The son of War Front ran over this course last November (sixth in Hollywood Derby) so he is familiar with the surroundings. Will be closing from the back on the turn.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Heir Kitty, 2. Atta Boy Pete, 3. American Act. LONG SHOT: Say Ow.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Practising, 2. Kitten de Pere, 3. Elite Eight. LONG SHOT: Parade Bound.
