SIXTH RACE:  1. Street Status (best bet), 2. Ice Cream Truck, 3. Intoclassymischief. LONG SHOT: Good Company.

STREET STATUS, a 3-year-old son of Street Boss, drops from straight maiden to maiden claiming $20,000, always a winning formula. Got off to a slow start in last and was bumped so had an excuse to make jockey Rafael Bejarano ride again.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Drill, 2. Soi Phet, 3. Hear the Ghost. LONG SHOT: Rousing Sermon.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Boyett, 2. Usbek Thunder, 3. Sumerian. LONG SHOT: Bench Light.

EUROCLYDON is a 2-year-old daughter of Singletary, who was a pretty good turf horse in his day. This Eoin Harty trainee showed good speed in two sprint preps and now she goes long on the grass. Expect her to go to the front under new rider Corey Nakatani and never look back.

Hollywood Park picks for Thursday, Nov. 28

Of course, the big question is why do tracks continue to run on Thanksgiving. Can’t they give everyone associated with the sport at least the afternoon off to spend with family and friends?

Thanksgiving is for football and eating, two of my favorite things. LOL

But seriously, would it have killed Hollywood Park to race on Wednesday and not run Thanksgiving?

==

FIRST RACE: 1. Inner Groove, 2. Brown Is Beige, 3. Sunland Vintage. LONG SHOT: Lia Juliana.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Sea John’s Spirit, 2. Dreamy Blues, 3. Humor Me. LONG SHOT: Mesana.

==

RACE 3. 1. Highly Rated, 2. Dreditcardroulette, 3. Woebegon, 4.With a Miracle. LONG SHOT: Blushing Martha.

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer claimed this 4-year-old filly HIGHLY RATED and promptly moves her up in class so he must like what he sees. She showed speed and will have to do so again from the rail. Jockey Rafael Bejarano retains the mount. Highly Rated is “stuck” in the race and likely to be scratched Thursday morning.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Anillo, 2. Majestic Stride, 3. Handsome Mike. LONG SHOT: Chosen Miracle.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Hurryhank (best bet), 2. Thunder Cole, 3. Wings of Mojave. LONG SHOT: Good Company.

Trainer Andy Mathis found that this 3-year-old gelding likes the turf in his last race. He finished second in open maiden company at Golden Gate. Mathis now ships south to run in a Cal-bred maiden event. He gets top turf rider Joe Talamo to accept the mount and draw a nice cozy express. This is only the son of Stormin Fever’s third career start so there’s plenty of room for improvement.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Too Obvious, 2. Curvy Kitten, 3. In Dad’s Honor. LONG SHOT: Princess Genevieve.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Fury Kapcori, 2. Procurement, 3. Rosengold. LONG SHOT: Den’s Legacy.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Princess of Pearl, 2. Elusive Luci, 3. Kid Rollins. LONG SHOT: Heavens Stairway.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Luxuriance, 2. Always a Chance, 3. Promiscuoussuances. LONG SHOT: Warren’s Rosebud.

LUXURIANCE, a 4-year-old filly, is coming off her best finish (second over this course) in a long time. She ran that against open claimers and now drops into a Cal-bred allowance race. She has never been worse than third sprinting on this turf course.

==

NINTH RACE: 1. Sugar High Kaylin, 2. Winninginfashion, 3. Secret Memo. LONG SHOT: Amanda.

We’re at the bottom of the barrel here with $20,000 maiden claiming fillies and SUGAR HIGH KAYLIN, a 3-year-old daughter of Candy Ride, cost $100,000 at auction so she must have shown something. Her works aren’t half bad for this level and her first time out. Plus appears to be owned by trainer Doug O’Neill and his brother, Dennis. The rest of this field hasn’t shown much so either this one will win for fun or run way up the track. Let’s hope for the former.
