Los Alamitos Race Course for Thursday, Dec. 11

Race 4: #8 Logan’s Moon (3-1)

Has been away from the races for more than 2 years, but look who he lost to in his debut — Vyjack. That Aqueduct race has produced five next out winners and this gelding has been working well enough for new trainer Peter Eurton to be live with jockey Rafael Bejarano aboard.

==

Race 5: #3 To B a Noitted (7-2)

Trainer Quinn Howey only ships to SoCal when he has a live one. He calimed this 4-year-old filly for $8,000 at Golden Gate and moves her up. She has been working well in NoCal and looks to have a closing kick that might be good in this long stretch.

==

Race 8: #4 Go Goldie Go (5-2)

Love offspring of Cindago because they are bred to sprint and this one debuts for trainer Jeff Mullins at 6 furlongs. Has a couple of decent works at Santa Anita and Mullins wins 25% of the time with debuting maiden claimers.

Del Mar picks for Wednesday, July 30 (updated)

Well, it’s looking like no news is good news on the Del Mar turf front.

CHRB officials were out Tuesday to check the turf and no announcement that they weren’t running on it Wednesday came.

On the main track, there is no telling how it will play after wax was added to the Polytrack after Tuesday morning training hours. Last week three track records were set so Wednesday it could be a completely different surface. be careful.

==

FIRST RACE: 1. Big John B, 2. Empty Headed, 3. Tigah. LONG SHOT: Thirtyfirststreet.

The Jimmy Durante Turf Course gets tested right out of the gate in the first race. The rails will be set at 18 feet and here’s hoping it’s a slower and softer surface for man and beast.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Southern Sunshine, 2. Reverchon (SCRATCHED), 3. Ladysgotgame. LONG SHOT: Plus Value. NEW PICKS: 1. Southern Sunshine, 2. West Riding, 3. Ladysgotgame. LONG SHOT: Plus Value.

You don’t see apprentice jockey Drayden Van Dyke jump off horses for trainer Tom Proctor, but he does in this race. Van Dyke jumps on SOUTHERN SUNSHINE (8-1), a 3-year-old filly, for trainer Peter Miller, who sends this daughter around two turns for the first time. WEST RIDING has big works for trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Mike Smith.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Number Five, 2. Maxx the Giat, 3. Romar Success. LONG SHOT: Sun Spots.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Tosheen, 2. Crux, 3. Red N Black Attack. LONG SHOT: Skydreamin.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Sheza Dish (SCRATCHED), 2. Nero’s Pleasure, 3. Up the Alley. LONG SHOT: Veronica Bay. NEW PICKS: 1. Nero’s Pleasure, 2. Up the Alley, 3. Veronica Bay. LONG SHOT: Spoiledandentitled.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. Nakamoto, 2. Dallas Skyline, 3. Bollente. LONG SHOT: Papacoolpapacool.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Wake Up Nick (best bet), 2. Peradventure, 3. Atta Boy Woody. LONG SHOT: Colorado Strong.

WAKE UP NICK is 2-for-2 in his young career and drops into the Cal-bred Graduation stakes after winning the open Santa Anita Juvenile on June 22. WAKE UP NICK is by Cindago out of a Lion Hearted mare, which screams sprinting. The 2-year-old colt might not be able to go much further than this pedigree wise so trainer Doug O’Neill and jockey Mario Gutierrez are trying to make hay while the sun shines.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. A C’s Crackerjack, 2. Ron’s Boy, 3. Coyotero. LONG SHOT: Eleven Zip.

A C’S CRACKERJACK (4-1), a 3-year-old colt, drops from straight maiden ranks all the way down to the $20,000 maiden claiming level after he dwelt at the start. Trainer Tom Proctor had put a couple of works into him at the seaside oval and apprentice Drayden Van Dyke jumps on.

Santa Anita picks for Thursday, May 1

FIRST RACE: 1. Wake Up Nick, 2. London Legacy, 3. Papa Kade. LONG SHOT: Player’s Charm.

This is the second 2-year-old race of the meet and trainer Doug O’Neill has three youngsters in here. We gravitate to WAKE UP NICK because jockey Mario Gutierrez decides to ride (he has first call on Paul Reddam horses) and the O’Neills (Doug and his brother, Dennis) appear to own a piece of the Cindago offspring, which were bred to sprint. LONDON LEGACY has been training well for trainer Walther Solis, but it’s tough taking a 2-year-old out of the No. 1 post.

==

SECOND RACE: 1. Stenoa, 2. Roman Tizzy, 3. Wicked Heat. LONG SHOT: Heaveneleven.

==

THIRD RACE: 1. Boyett, 2. African Oil, 3. Christopher Street. LONG SHOT: China Girl Lover.

==

FOURTH RACE: 1. Shackbamalama, 2. Northern Force, 3. Old Pueblo. LONG SHOT: Tiz Futurity.

==

FIFTH RACE: 1. Shapely (best bet), 2. Thisonesforricky, 3. Front Range. LONG SHOT: Sheza Dish.

SHAPELY, a 3-year-old filly, made her debut finishing second down the hill on the turf, but she is bred for the dirt (Empire Maker our of a Charismatic mare). Trainer Ron Ellis is 28% with maidens making their second start and the filly had a bullet work since her first start.

==

SIXTH RACE: 1. One Time Only, 2. Rhagori, 3. Scarlet Strike. LONG SHOT: Silver Hustler.

==

SEVENTH RACE: 1. Cause Ur My Babe, 2. Prayer Be Mine, 3. Frisco Fog. LONG SHOT: In Dad’s Honor.

==

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Highly Rated, 2. Deity, 3. Flashy Dame. LONG SHOT: Include the Cat.
