Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, March 10

Preview: Not sure the turf races will remain there after rain on Sunday and Monday. Last time it rained it took several to get back on the grass so check the scratches and changes carefully. Hopefully drier weather makes the turf playable.

Race 4: #7 Nazareth (6-1) (turf only)

Yes, this mare if 1-for-15 on the grass, but she has shown some improvement since moving to the grass and going two turns. Also key jockey change here from Chantal Kruse to Flavien Prat.

Race 8: #2 Heed to Speed (4-1)

This filly has been away for nearly two months and takes a drop in class. The race she is coming out of has produced at least two winners (first and third place) and trainer Peter Miller is due to start a hot streak. And this filly comes out of a key race that has produced two winners so far.

Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, Feb. 25

Preview: .Another weak card, but we have to do our best to find some prices. Jockey Flavien Prat seems to be rounding into form so watch for him this week.

Race 3 – SA

#1 Candy Promises (10-1)

We get a huge jockey upgrade here as as the aforementioned Flavien Prat takes over of Chantal Kruse. This 3-year-old colt takes the huge drop from MSW to maiden claimers and trainer Vann Belvoir is 18% the first time he puts a horse in a claimer.

Race 6 – SA

#4 Ready to Hula Lula (5-2)

Unless there is a good first-timer in this bunch, this 3-year-old looks tough in this spot. She has speed and jockey Rafael Bejarano to ration it out. She had a good work since her race and trainer Mark Glatt is 21% with Bejarano at Santa Anita.
