FIRST RACE: 1-7-2-4
SECOND RACE: 10-1-4-5
Everyone knows trainer Bob Baffert is deadly with 2-year-old firsters but did you know he’s 0-for-10 with debuting maiden claimers like #4 Midnight Mammouth? Now many people don’t consider this a claimer since it has a $150,000 price tag on every horse but the purse is only $50,000 and I think Del Mar MSW will be more than $70k this meet so it’s a step below. Midnight has good works, but I’ll pass on win end.
THIRD RACE: 3-8-6-7
FOURTH RACE: 1-7-10-4
Keep this in mind for the meet; trainer Peter Miller started a number of 2-year-olds at Gulfstream Park this spring and has shipped them to Del Mar for the Ship ‘N Win program #1 Don’t Ju Forget fits the mold. These horses have a race under their belt which can’t hurt in juvenile races.
FIFTH RACE: 8-6-12-2
SIXTH RACE: 10-12-4-8
SEVENTH RACE: 5-2-9-6
No. 5 Eddie Haskell has scratched so new order is: 2-9-7-6
EIGHTH RACE: 3-1-4-10
No. 1 and No. 4 are scratched. New order: 3-5-2-10
NINTH RACE: 3-13-6-8 (best bet)
10TH RACE: 7-2-8-6
Good luck. Stay safe.
I like a longshot in Race 7 – #12- Bad Beat Brian. Brought over from back east for the 40% turf adder for the out of state runners. 40% purse bonus for turf finishers; bonuses stay the same for subsequent starts at the meet. Look at his form early this year. Could be 10/1 when the gates open due to the Del Mar monster “Beaver Buddy”, Eddie Haskell, who will get a lot of action, but is now a 8YO and up for sale? He likes Del Mar for sure and the betting public will pour it in on him, driving up the rest of the herd’s prices.
Bummer flying late as I thought, but ran out of turf! . Took 3rd @ 12/1… Will be favored next time. Keep him on the watch list…
