Jeff Nahill’s Belmont Park opinions for Saturday, June 5 (Races 5-11)

FIFTH RACE: 6-2-1-5

SIXTH RACE: 12-6-8-9

SEVENTH RACE: 3-5-7-6 (Heads up 1-2 are both scratched)

EIGHTH RACE: 4-11-8-7

NINTH RACE: 2-6-1-5

10TH RACE: 9-10-4-2

11TH RACE: 1. #4 Hot Rod Charlie, 2. #3 Rombauer, 3. #2 Essential Quality, 4. #7 Rock Your World. LONG SHOT: #8 Overtook.

A lot of luster has come off the race this year and the rating will be horrible but that’s life. The top three horses have proven to be at the top of the crop in 2021 and I don’t see much changing. HOT ROD CHARLIE (7-2) keeps Flavien Prat, who is riding out of his mind these days. Prat jumps off ROMBAUER (3-1), but no shame there. The interesting horse is ROCK YOUR WORLD (9-2), who lost all chance in the Derby at the start. The bomber is Overtook (20-1), a son of Curlin, and he comes up big in breeding aspects for me.

Good luck. Stay safe.
