Jeff Nahill’s Pimlico opinions for Saturday, May 15

EIGHTH RACE: 1. Arzak, 2. T D Dance, 3. Outadore, 4. Kasim. LONG SHOT: Extrasexybigdaddee.

NINTH RACE: 1. French Empire, 2. Chub Wagon, 3. Casual, 4. Club Car. LONG SHOT: Dontletsweetfoolya.

10TH RACE: 1. Hollis, 2. The Critical Way, 3. So Street, 4. Completed Pass. LONG SHOT: Firecrow.

11TH RACE: 1. Laki, 2. Strike Power, 3. Yodel E. A. Who, 4. Breezy Gust. LONG SHOT: Threes Over Deuces.

12TH RACE: 1. Talk Or Listen (best bet), 2. Sacred Life, 3. Kuramata, 4. Somelikeithotbrown. LONG SHOT: Midnight Tea Time.

13TH RACE (Grade I Preakness): 1. #6 Rombauer, 2. #10 Concert Tour, 3. #3 Medina Spirit, 4. #4 Crowded Trade. LONG SHOT: #9 Risk Taking.

I have no clue how today’s race will be run at Pimlico. Yes, we all know about trainer Bob Baffert’s troubles, but the bigger issue is how will his two horses — Concert Tour (5-2) and Medina Spirit (9-5) — traverse the 1 3/16 mile of the main track. Both horses like to have the lead. My thought is Concert Tour is faster, but if Medina Spirit gets the lead, he likely won’t give it up. If they had different styles, this would be an easy call. They don’t. Therefore, I’m going with the 12-1 Rombauer from the Michael McCarthy barn. This colt has been pointed for this race and his last three works at Santa Anita have been sensational plus he gets the services of jockey Flavien Prat. After that it’s a crapshoot. I think trainer Chad Brown’s two horses (Crowded Trade 10-1 and Risk Taking 15-1) should run well but who knows. As for betting, I might have a few bucks on Rombauer but I’ll just take my Derby profit and watch for the most part.

Good luck. Stay safe.
