Jeff Nahill’s Churchill Downs opinions for Friday, April 30 (Kentucky Oaks day, Races 6-11)

Note: Louisville has had plenty of rain on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be moisture in the track and the turf course will have some give in it. Keep it in mind.

RACE 6: 1. Roadster, 2. Maxfield, 3. Sonneman, 4. Chess Chief. LONG SHOT: Visitant.

RACE 7: 1. Gift List, 2. Aunt Pearl, 3. Barista, 4. Zaajel. LONG SHOT: Line Dancing.

RACE 8: 1. Shedaresthedevil, 2. Dunbar Road, 3. Finite, 4. Paris Lights. LONG SHOT: Envoutante.

RACE 9: 1. Li’l Tootsie, 2. Souper Sensational, 3. Obligatory, 4. Carmel Swirl. LONG SHOT: Make Mischief.

RACE 10: Diamond Oops (best bet), 2. Carotari, 3. Sombeyay, 4. Fast Boat. LONG SHOT: Guildsman.

RACE 11 (Grade I Kentucky Oaks): 1. #14 Millefeuille, 2. #10 Malathaat, 3.# 6 Travel Column, 4. #3 Clairiere. LONG SHOT: #8 Moraz.

Millefeuille (20-1) has the hottest stakes winning jockey in the country in Joel Rosario (20 for 54) this year. The only drawback is the outside draw but hoping Rosario can work a trip. The sire Curlin gets dirt distance winners. Millefeuille did lose to Malathaat (5-2) last year, but is third off the layoff. Travel Column (3-1) and Clairiere (5-1) were 1-2 in the Fair Grounds Oaks, which has been a productive race in the past here. Moraz (30-1) gets jockey Flavien Prat and trainer Michael McCarthy has been on the money the last few years in big races.

Good luck. Stay safe.
