Trainer James DiVito is spending his first summer at Del Mar after many years on the Chicago circuit. In today’s 10th race, he has a $300,000 2-year-old named Forloveofcountry (No. 8) making his first start on the grass. The sire Sky Mesa gets 12 percent winners first time on the grass and DiVito wins 24 percent first time on grass and 20 percent the first time he sends a horse in a route race. This colt gave an even effort in the mud at Churchill Downs last month and this might be what he wanted to go all along.
