Preview: Did you set your clocks ahead one hour this morning at 2 a.m.? That’s right you lost an hour of sleep.
No opinions for today because not happy with the way track management has treated bettors this weekend.
First, on Saturday’s card, Santa Anita took the 11th and last race off the grass after the Pick 6 and late Pick 5 started which made everyone a winner in the last race, per CHRB rules. Everyone knew it was going to rain on Saturday, but Santa Anita still carded too many grass races and especially the last race of the day you knew it was going to come off. It was a just a matter of when. After that first rain drop hit the ground in Arcadia, the race should have been taken off the grass. I don’t know when that was because I wasn’t there, but just saying.
As for Sunday’s card, the forecast was for rain most of Saturday so why would four races, including the feature race down the hill, be run on the grass. Unless there is a miracle heat wave overnight, I seriously doubt there will be any grass racing today in Arcadia and I know the first race to come off will be the one down the hill. It was not a smart decision by Santa Anita and I’m not going to waste my time handicapping five dirt races. I hope something stays on the grass, but I have my doubts.
See you next racing week.
