Santa Anita opinions for Saturday, Oct. 28

SECOND RACE: #7 Lipster (5-1)
This gelding has been forwardly placed in both of his starts and he is cutting back a half-furlong today which should help. Jockey Stewart Elliott keeps the mount on the 2-year-old that is dropping from Cal-bred maiden claiming $50,000 to open maiden claimers for $30,000. Has a good work since his last race.

FOURTH RACE: #1 Jonny’s Choice (4-1)
The Bill Spawr barn has been running this meet and here he has a gelding second off the claim. Spawr is 23% with horses off a 46 to 90-day layoff. The 8-year-old is coming out of a key race that as produced three next out winners from six starters.

SIXTH RACE: #7 Lake Time (12-1)
This filly is making only her second start on the grass so we don’t know if she likes it or not but at this prize it’s worth finding out. She has some late kick and hopefully jockey Joe Talamo gets her there.

EIGHTH RACE: #6 Shivermetimbers (7-2)
I think we might get a better price here than 7-2. There is a Baffert and D’Amato and O’Neill babies in this race, but trainer Jerry Hollendorfer is 20% with horses in their second career start. There is a bullet work right after her third-place finish in her debut so that’s a good sign.

Good luck.
