Race 1 – SA
#5 Tastemaker (15-1) TURF ONLY ****
This colt is definitely the best bred in this race, sired by Candy Ride out of Sweet Catomine, a really good race mare for the Wygods. He had kinds of trouble in the last race at the start and now Norberto Arroyo Jr. rides him again for Cliff Sise Jr.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 5 – SA
#7 Miz Strawberry Dee (3-1) ****
This mare drops into the Cal-bred ranks for the first time in recent memory. She almost won coming down the hill. Now trainer Mike Chambers tries her on the dirt and at 7 furlongs. Chambers is 28% second off the layoff and Gary Stevens rides back.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 7 – SA
#8 Belisarius (9-2) TURF ONLY ****
Trainer Peter Miller has been on fire and he drops this gelding into a claimer for the first time. Miller is 20% in that situation. Jockey Arroyo is really underrated on the turf.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 10 – SA
#7 Tap on a Star (5-1) ****
This filly drops to her lowest level and trainer Molly Pearson is 40% when dropping a horse two or more levels. The 3-year-old has speed and that should show more in this spot.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Good luck.
