Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Saturday, May 27

Race 1 – SA
#3 One I-m Running To (7-2) ****
This gelding is coming off a long layoff, but trainer Steve Miyadi is 26% with horses off a layoff of 180 days or more. The 3-year-old broke his maiden for $50,000, which is a lot higher than others in this event. New York-based jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., in two to ride later, gets the mount.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 4 – SA
#1 Union Rebel (12-1) ***
Tough maiden event featuring Sonneteer, who finished second in the Rebel and ran in the Kentucky Derby. Going with this 3-year-old from the Richard Baltas barn. Hoping there is a lot of speed and he comes running in the lane at a price.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 6 – SA
#1 Giant Influence (5-1) ****
Has been working well for his return for Peter Eurton, who is 20% going from route to sprint. Could be ready to go.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 9 – SA
#4 Awesome Heights (12-1) TURF ONLY ****
Got in some trouble last time and now good turf rider Flavien Prat jumps on for Neil Drysdale, who is 28% with Prat at Santa Anita.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Good luck.
