Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Saturday, April 22

Race 2 – SA
#1 Wildfire Kid (4-1) ****
Our Eyes: The last time this gelding was at this level he won. He has an 8-3-2-1 over this surface. Trainer Robertino Diodoro is 26% second off the claim and this 7-year-old is coming out of a key race.
03w0qwJeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 7 – SA
#2 I’d Be Sad an Blue (9-2) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: This gelding gave an even effort in his race off the layoff. Should be fitter today and good turf jockey Corey Nakatani rides.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 9 – SA
#3 Coppa (10-1) TURF ONLY ***
Our Eyes: Trainer Phil D’Amato is showing a flat bet profit on the grass and wins at a 21% rate. He has two in here and I’m taking the longer price. Joe Talamo knows what he is doing .
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 3-5.

Race 10 – SA
#12 Towards the Light (12-1) ***
Our Eyes: Trainer Phil D’Amato could have a big day. This is a first-time starter by Munnings, which gets 17% winners first time out. Decent works and a good jockey in Victor Espinoza.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 3-5.

Good luck.
