Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Friday, April 7

Race 1 – SA
#7 Mizzen Me (4-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Jockey Kent Desormeaux had his choice of mounts for his brother, Keith, and choose this son of Mizzen Mast. Keith is 19% with horses of a 46 to 90-day layoff.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 7-1-4.

Race 4 – SA
#7 My Carmela (4-1) ****
Our Eyes: The class dropps will be tough in this spot but I’m trying a first time starter from the Mike Puype barn, which is 17% with maiden claimers. The sire Coil is 14% with firsters and main barn rider Stewart Elliott rides.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 7-2-4.

Race 5 – SA
#3 Shaula (12-1) TURF ONLY ***
Our Eyes: Going to take a chance with this long shot from the Ed Moger Jr. barn. The sire Roi Charmant gets 27% winners first time on the grass and this filly didn’t run too bad at Golden Gate in her first try around two turns on the all-weather.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 3-2-1.

Race 7 – SA
#1 Jennyway U Want It (5-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Could be a big day for the Puype barn. This mare has been idle since January but has been working well. Norberto Arroyo keeps the mount.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 1-2-7.

Good luck.
