Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, April 6

Race 2 – SA
#6 Oh Scatty Oh (6-1) TURF ONLY ***
Our Eyes: This is a tough race and I couldn’t talk people off most of the field. I’m going with the hot Peter Miller, who starts this filly off a nearly 7-month layoff. She comes out of a key race that has produced three winners so far. Miller is 21% when taking the blinkers.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 5 – SA
#6 Miss Bortolazzo (4-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Mike McCarthy, the former Todd Pletcher assistant, tried to get this filly on the grass last time, but it was taken off. The sire Tizway gets 18% first-time winners on the grass. Flavien Prat takes the mount.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 7 – SA
#5 Broke Away Grey (6-1) ****
Our Eyes: This gelding showed a world of talent in his debut going two turns. Now trainer Ron Ellis wants to see if he can do it on the grass, too. The sire Broken Vow gets 9% winners on the grass first time..
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#6 Vow’s Son (3-1) ****
Our Eyes: This gelding showed some speed against MSW types and now drops into a maiden claimer for the first time. Trainer Mike Puype is 24% with that move and jockey Stewart Elliott sticks.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Good luck.
