Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Sunday, March 19

Race 2 – SA
#5 Gigantis (6-1) ****
Our Eyes: Venerable Bruce Headley doesn’t start many horses this day but he is 20% with horses off a 90-plus day layoff. Works have been steady.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 4 – SA
#9 Brolazza (8-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: When a big-time rider (Flavien Prat in this case) rides for a low-profile barn (like Gerard Piccioni) you should take notice. This gelding gave an even effort in his return and should be fitter here.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#5 Taco (6-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Efren Loza Jr. runs mainly in Louisiana and South Florida so he must have something special if he’s running on the West Coast. This colt is a perfect 4-for-4 and likes to from off the pace. Jockey Jesus Rios comes in to ride.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 5-2-9.

Good luck.
