Santa Anita opinions for Friday, March 10

Race 2 – SA
#3 Kencho (15-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Filly ran on the East Coast last year and now is in the Keith Desormeaux barn out here. She comes out of a key Belmont Park race and brother, Kent Desormeaux gets on her again.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 5 – SA
#3 Illuminant (3-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Hasn’t run since last May when she won the Grade I Gamely. This is a starting point but she may have the class to win first off the layoff because she broke her maiden down the hill. Jockey Flavien Prat could have ridden for Papa Mandella here, but keeps this mount for Mike McCarthy.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#6 Pearl de Vere (4-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Sticking with the red-hot combination of trainer Peter Miller and jockey Nelson Arroyo. This mare has won multiple times down the hill and takes a drop in class.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Good luck.
