Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Friday, March 3

Preview: Hope some of you played City Storm Thursday at 10-1. It wasn’t the prettiest ride by Stewart Elliott but he got there. Love those City Zips on grass. Wild Lando ran a good second in the sixth and won’t be a maiden long. Jockey Rafael Bejarano is back from an injury and a suspension. Beware. In case you didn’t notice Luis Contreras has left the jockey colony for Oaklawn Park on his way back to Woodbine.

Race 4 – SA
#3 Spin Me a Kiss (5-1) ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Phil D’Amato is starting to heat up and he has a first-timer here by Hard Spun, a sire that gets 10% first time winners. D’Amato adds first-time Lasix and he’s 29% with that move.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. EXBX 3-2-4.

Race 7 – SA
#5 Lost in Lexington (8-1) ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Blaine Wright claimed this filly at Golden Gate and ships her south to run here. Wright is 39% first off the claim.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#6 Line (7-2) TURF ONLY *****
Our Eyes: Love this War Front filly. She ran last July and obviously had an issue, but she has been working lights out for her return for trainer Richard Mandella and jockey Flavien Prat. War Front is 16% first-time turf.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Good luck.
