Preview: I’m still not 100%, but time to put a few horses out there. In case you don’t know trainer Jamie Ness has been suspended for 100 days, but his horses are running under his wife’s name, Mandy Ness. What a great sport? Tampa has gone two straight days without turf racing, but hopefully will be back on the grass today.
Race 3 – Tam
#4 Flower Punch (6-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: This gleding wanted no part of the main track in his last race. Just put a line through it. Looking strictly at his turf races, he is moving up in class off a win, but trainer Maria Bowersock is 21$ going from dirt to turf.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 5 – Tam
#9 Ibetcha (10-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: Leading jockey Daniel Centeno jumps on this first timer for trainer Gary Jackson. Sire Big Brown, who gets 11% winners first time on the turf. Worth a shot.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 6 – Tam
#1 Saved by the Swell (9-2) ****
Our Eyes: Ian Wilkes horses get better with racing and this filly has run her two best speed ratings going a distance of ground. The last race was a prep, pure and simple. Look for this 4-year-old to be closing in the lane.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Race 7 – Tam
#7 R Way to Escape (5-1) TURF ONLY ****
Our Eyes: This filly broke her maiden on the turf at Gulfstream Park and came to Tampa to run in an allowance race, that was dismal. Leading trainer Gerald Bennett drops her into a claimer, where she should give a better effort. Jockey Edwin Gonzalez is 25% with Bennett at this meet.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
Good luck.this
