Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Saturday, Feb. 11

Preview: I don’t know what to think about the main track or turf course today since it started raining at the end of Friday’s card. Check for changes as soon as you log on and check conditions. I would think the turf stakes will stay on the grass but the others might come off..

Race 2 – SA
#5 Joan of Arch (9-2) ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Robertino Diodoro is 26% first off the claim, but one has ot think he was hoping to run this filly sooner than this. She has a win over the main track and jockey Israel Ocampo jumps on.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 3 – SA
#2 This’ How We Roll (7-2) ****
Our Eyes: This colt has been on the sidelines since opening day of the meet when he got off a little slow. Stewart Elliott rides back for Gary Mandella and there is a good stamina building work showing. Maybe improvement in second start.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 7 – SA
#4 Heir of Storm (4-1) ****
Our Eyes: This gelding has a 14-2-2-3 record over this main track and is coming out of a key race at Del Mar. Has shown high speed in the past and their is a big work showing for trainer Craig Dollase, who drops him a level.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#2 Who’s Hot (8-1) ***
Our Eyes: Love first-time starters from the Jerry Hollendorfer barn and King Jerry has another 3-year-old in this race. This son of Gemologist (who gets 17% winners first time out) gets Flavien Prat in the saddle, which is always a good sign.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Good luck.
