Horse racing, Tampa Bay Downs

Tampa Bay Downs selections for Saturday, Feb. 11

Race 1: #4 Is Everybody Happy (5-1): From the Tom Proctor barn, which is having a huge meet (11 for 22). Was running in the Mid-Atlantic region and Proctor is 21% with horses off a layoff of more than 90 days. On top of that, Proctor is 54% with jockey Ronnie Allen Jr. at the meet.

Race 5: #4 Pinchbeck (6-1): All I wrote on my notes for this race was “BAD RIDE” last race as trainer Christophe Clement employed a low percentage rider and it cost him any chance. Now Jose Ortiz comes down to ride in the stakes races and is reunited with this filly. HUGE jock switch and Clement adds Lasix and he’s 28% when adding Lasix for the first time.

Race 6: #4 Major Force (6-1): Here’s that combination of Centeno and Delacour again. This is a first-time starter by Scat Daddy, who gets 14% winners first time out. Good price and might get overlooked.

Race 9 (Grade III Tampa Bay Stakes): #4 Turbo Street (15-1): Lots of good horse flesh in this turf race like Kasaqui and Kaigun, but I’m going with Australian invader for trainer Brian Lynch, who is 57% with shippers from outside the U.S. This gelding is adding Lasix and likely bled in his last race Down Under and that’s the reason he came here to race. Certainly has pedigree to like the distance and gets Julian Leparoux to ride.

Race 10 (Grade III Sam F. Davis): 1. #7 Tapwrit (8-1), 2. #3 Fact Finding, 3. #8 McCracken, 4. #9 No Dozing.

Race 11 (Grade III Endevour): #8 Azaelia (8-1): Throw out that last race. This French bred has some late run and is re-united with Jose Ortiz for trainer Shug McGaughey.

Good luck.
