Santa Anita opinions for Sunday, Jan. 15

Preview: Hopefully today will mark a return to grass racing after a wet week in Arcadia, but don’t count your chickens until Santa Anita announces it. Luckily, there is only one grass race.

Race 3 – SA
#3 Tiz No Bluff (6-1) ****
Our Eyes: This gelding runs in a maiden claimer for the first time and has a bullet work showing for trainer Ron Ellis and jockey Joe Talamo.
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 4 – SA
#10 Wise Curlin (10-1) (turf only) ***
Our Eyes: Trainer Peter Eurton tried get this son of Curlin on the grass at Golden Gate but it was taken off. The 4-year-old still showed good speed and jockey Mario Gutierrez will need from this outside post.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 4 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 9 – SA
#8 Iron Rob (6-1) ***
Our Eyes: This gelding takes a drop in class after facing much better for most of his career. Jockey Corey Nakatani keeps the mount.
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
