Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Thursday, Jan. 12

Preview: It’s suppose to rain all day so I would say there is a 1% chance of the seventh race staying on the turf. Flavien Prat and Tyler Baze are leading the jockey standings with nine wins each. It’s not a very good card.

Race 3 – SA
#3 Out of Patience (5-2) ****
Our Eyes: Trainer Bill Spawr is off to a hot start at the meet (8-3-0-2) and this gelding loves Santa Anita with a 10-4-0-4. Spawr is 41% when going from sprint to route. – Jeff Nahill
Jeff’s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 6 – SA
#7 Red Car Mac (8-1) ***
Our Eyes: This colt broke his maiden over this track. He has early speed and is reunited with jockey Martin Pedroza. He is also coming out of a key race where two of the first three to run back have won. – Jeff Nahill
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 4 units to place and 6 units to show.

Race 8 – SA
#3 Tiz No Bluff (6-1) ***
Our Eyes: This 5-year-old has been gelded since his last race during the summer at Del Mar and drops into a maiden claimer for the first time. Jockey Joe Talamo sticks around and he’s 21% with trainer Ron Ellis. – Jeff Nahill
Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show.
