Preview: Breeders’ Cup week has arrived and while it’s not the greatest Thursday card, there are some playable races. Just a few stats first: in dirt sprints, the No. 1 and 2 post have won 14% (10 of 71) while post three through six have won 55% (39-71). Dirt routes inside is place to be as one through three is 55% (22 of 40). In turf sprints, I don’t care if it is a small sample size but the one and two posts are 1 for 21 (5%) while posts three through six are 57% (12 for 21). In turf two-turn races, posts one through four are 49% (17 for 35)..
Race 2: #4 Goseecal (7-2)
This filly gets a huge jockey switch from Alonso Quinonez to Rafael Bejarano, who is 20% with trainer Vladimir Cerin. She finish third in her first try around two turns and draws more inside this time as opposed to the eight hole last time.
Race 5: #2 Seeking Shamrocks (5-1)
Throw out that last race by this mare, but keep it in mind because the top three horses all came back to win making it a key race. She is dropping in class, but has the best back speed number from Brisnet. Trainer Mike Puype is 63% with horses dropping more than two levels.
Race 8: #1 Let Me Flatter You (6-1)
There aren’t a bunch of world beaters in this maidene claimer so why not go with the fresh face? Rafael Bejarano jumps on this filly for trainer Richard Baltas and they are 31% together at Sanra Anita. The sire Flatter gets 11% winners first time out.
