Preview: Some jockeys are up to rough starts on the main track. Here are a few jockeys to give second thoughts to until they get hot: Mario Gutierrez 0-for-18, Tiago Periera 0-18, Martin Garcia 0-17, Santiago Gonzalez 1-29, Stewart Elliott 1-24 and Chad Lindsay 1-21. Sorry this is late and let’s hope to break out of a slump today
Race 1: #3 Tourny (5-1)
Drops out of a nongraded stakes where she started from the dreaded No. 1 post down the hill. Barring a scratch, she starts from the No. 3 here. She also had trouble at the start last time. Trainer John Sadler is 19% with horses third off the layoff.
Race 4: #4 Student Body Left (5-1)
Scratched out of race going down the hill to try two turns on the turf for the first time. Trainer Scott Hansen is 44% with horses first time on the grass. The sire Tizway gets 13% first time of the turf. Red hot jockey Tyler Baze picks up the mount.
Race 6: #5 Adler (10-1)
Liked this filly last month in her turf debut at Golden Gate, but she didn’t get the best ride. Today Norberto Arroyo takes over and he rode the grass like amad man at Del Mar. Trainer Eddie Truman is 22% with horses off a 31- to 60-day layoff.
Race 9: #7 Forest Blue (7-2)
This gelding gets a key jockey switch to turf maven Flavien Prat. He has the best late pace rating from Brisnet and trainer Peter Miller is 22% with beaten favorites.
GOLDEN GATE
Race 9: #3 Telepathy (10-1) (turf only)
It’s tough to pass up a double-digit horse trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Juan Hernandez, especially on the turf. Hernandez is a 23% rider on the turf and he’s 45% with Hollendorfer the last 60 days. This gelding hasn’t raced in more than a year but The Dorf is 15% off long layoffs.
