Race 5: #2 Farley (6-1): We liked this colt last time but he was just overmatched in a stakes. He now returns to the maiden ranks and draws a critical inside post. Trainer Doug O’Neill and jockey Mario Gutierrez are 20% together and this son of Distorted Humor has an early pace advantage on this group.

Race 6 (THE FRONTRUNNER): 1. #7 Vibe (20-1), 2. Klimt, 3. Midnight Pleasure. I find it real interesting that jockey Kent Desormeaux appears to have had his choice of this long shot and the 9-5 second choice Straight Fire for his brother, Keith Desormeaux. He chooses this son of Astrology after a third-place finish in the two-turn maiden race at Del Mar.

Race 7 (THE AWESOME AGAIN): 1. California Chrome, 2. Dortmund, 3. Hard. Aces. It looks like Del Mar’s Pacific Classic all over again minus Beholder. I don’t see a reason there will be a chance.

Race 8 (THE RODEO DRIVE): 1. Zipessa, 2. Real Smart, 3. Avenge, 4. Majestic Heat.

Race 9 (THE ZENYATTA) 1. Beholder, 2. Stellar Wind, 3. Vale Dori. I think we find if Stellar Wind’s victory at Del Mar was for real.

Race 10 (THE CHANDELIER): 1. #2 Noted and Quoted (6-1), 2. American Cleopatra, 3. Champagne Room. Here is another interesting jockey choice as Rafael Bejarano rode American Cleopatra in her second-place finish in the Del Mar Debutante, yet Bejarano chooses to ride this daughter of The Factor in this spot. Always go with the longer-price bob Baffert trainee.
