LRC Preview: Second week of racing in the afternoons at Los Alamitos finds jockey Stewart Elliott on a tear. He won 9 of 17 mounts the first four days in his first time at the track. Four of those wins were for trainer Bob Baffert, who also came out firing after Del Mar.
Race 3: #4 Uninvented (9-5)
Here are Stewart Elliott and Bob Baffert teamming up on this 3-year-old, which has been gelded since his last race. Baffert rarely leaves them short off the layoff and this new gelding is coming out of a key race at Santa Anita.
Race 5: #1 Our Trooper (15-1)
This 6-year-old lost all chance in his his last race at 870 yards at night. Once upon a time, he broke his maiden at this distance and track. Trainer Nicolas Acuna takes the blinkers off to get him to relax.
Race 7: #5 Far Out Kailee (5-2)
That man Stewart Elliott jumps on this Chris Hartman trainee. This is Hartman’s first starter here and she looks live. Hartman is 30% when running a horse second off the claim.
Race 8: #6 Wild Cause (7-2)
Our Eyes: Mike Harrington trains his horses at this track and points for these mini-meets. He cuts this filly back from a turf route so she should be plenty fit and coming in the lane. She also has a good work over the track coming into this race.
GG Preview: There is no turf racing in Southern California for another two weeks so any turf horses have to head to Northern California to run. You will see some Del Mar shippers there over that time.
Race 7: #4 Stole a Kiss (4-1)
Trainer John Martin claimed this mare for $10K at Del Mar and now drops her into a Cal bred ranks. She was facing much tougher until her last race and Martin must have a plan because he is 44% first off the claim and 38% going from dirt to turf. He gets top NoCal turf rider J.J. Hernandez to ride.
