Del Mar, Horse racing

Del Mar selections for Sunday, Sept. 4

Race 1: 1. #3 Lucky Dolly (4-1), 2. Laura’s Babydoll, 3. So Heres the Thing. LONG SHOT: Coco Smooches.
Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens doesn’t need this mount but he’s on this filly for trainer Molly Pearson. The 2-year-old had a decent race run in first race and now ships to Del Mar. Pearson is 30% first time in a maiden claimer.

This mare just missed in the Osunitas and she won here last year. She has a big work showing since the race and jockey Victor Espinoza could have ridden another in here but sticks with this one. Espinoza is 20% with trainer John Sadler and an inside post is the place to be on this turf course.

Race 8: 1. #1 Gold Rush Dancer (8-1), 2. Monster Bea, 3. Trojan Nation. LONG SHOT: Free Rose.
You can never go wrong with jockey Flavie Prat on the turf and this 3-year-old is the X factor in here. He won a Cal-bred stakes and now returns to the grass where he is a pefect 2-for-2. Prat is 22% with trainer Vann Belvoir and you can bet Prat will stick to the inside all the way around.

Race 9: 1. Papa Papa Papa, 2. Ten Blessings, 3. Pulmarack. LONG SHOT: Blameitonthelaw.

Race 10: 1. #2 The Spiral Jetter (7-2), 2. Cuddle Alert, 3. Mai Tai. LONG SHOT: Kennedie Sky.
This filly just gave an even effort last time on the dirt. Trainer Andy Mathis goes to the turf and jockey Rafael Bejarano sticks. Mathis is 24% when taking blinkers off and he’s 2-of-r7 with Bejarano.
