Horse racing, Santa Anita

Santa Anita opinions for Sunday, June 26

Preview: So the day after the Gold Cup and we have nine races with just some 50-odd horses entered. Just lovely. Good luck trying to find prices on this card.

Race 2 – SA
#1 Ipray (5-2): This filly finished second to easier in her last for trainer Hector Palma, who is 26% with beaten favorites. Jockey Rafael Bejarano stays aboard and he’s 44% with Palma at Santa Anita.

Race 4 – SA
#4 Chris and Dave (4-1): This gelding returns to the David Jacobson barn after runs in two other barns. The 3-year-old pressed the pace and won last time and has the top Brisnet Late Pace Rating. He is also 2-for-2 at the distance.

Race 7 – SA
#2 Warren’s Super Cat (6-1): This mare broke her maiden in her seventh try last time, but the key here for trainer Jorge Gutierrez will be the ride of jockey Flavien Prat. There is a ton of speed in this race and if Prat brings this mare from off the pace like he did in here last race she should be a winner.
