Race 3: #2 Sir Barclay (7-2): This gelding has a 4-1-2-1 record over the Los Al surface. This is his third race off off a layoff, which could be a key.

Race 8: #8 Uncle Lino (5-2) This colt finished third in the Santa Anita Derby, behind Exaggerator and Mor Spirit, both of whom are going to run in next Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. The 3-year-old had a big workout coming into this race and trainer Gary Sherlock felt it would be better to run in this spot, rather than Kentucky.

Race 9: #3 Big Energy (4-1): This gelding ships down from Northern California for trainer Terry Knight, who gets the meet’s leading rider, Kent Desormeaux, to pilot the son of Marino Marini.
