Preview: Only nine races on the card so you can tell the end of the meet is coming Kentucky Derby weekend. Field size is down on this day so don’t be afraid to single in the horizontal wagers if you like a horse. There was rain forecast Thursday so check to see if races are still on the turf.
Race 1 – Tam
#4 Financial Freedom: Leading trainer Gerald Bennett sends this gelding out first off the claim and he’s 26% with that move. Jockey Fernando De la Cruz rides and they are 39% at the meet. The 5-year-old also has the top Brisnet Class and Late Pace Ratings.
Race 3 – Tam
#7 Hayati Son (turf only): Trainer Horacio Barbaran and jockey Samy Camacho have hit with some bombs this meet on horses that had no recent form like this horse. This 6-year-old has the advantage of having the top Brisnet Late Pace Rating.
Race 7 – Tam
#8 Hoon (turf only): Just throw out that last race on a fast track that was taken off the grass. This gelding just missed at this level on the grass two back and trainer Victor Carrasco Jr. is 35% with beaten favorites. Jockey Dean Butler stays aboard.
Race 8 – Tam
#9 Meydenbauer Bay:: This filly broke from the gate like a quarterhorse and then faded to last against better. Trainer William Helmbrecht is 29% when dropping a horse two or more classes. Maybe she has found her friends and jockey Pablo Morales jumps on.
