Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Wednesday, April 13

Preview: An OK card with 10 races and no field less than seven horses before scratches. There’s no rain in forecast until Thursday. Jockey Daniel Centeno had a big week with four winners on Wednesday and then three on Sunday.

Race 1 – Tam

#3 Sofia Maria R. (4-1): This filly makes her first start in the maiden claiming ranks. Trainer John Vincson has started many at the meet but he’s won 21%. He’s 23% with shippers and 23% with horses coming off a layoff of 90 days or more.

Race 5 – Tam

#6 Hoot and Holler (8-1)  (turf only): Trainer Arnaud Delacour has been 57% with stretchouts in previous Tampa meets and here he’s a first-time turf. The sire Awesome of Course is 18% first tome on the grass. Jockey Daniel Centeno and Delacour are a long time hot combination, hitting at 30% this meet.

Race 9 – Tam

#10 Will to Go (6-1): There’s an old saying at the track about when a top jockey jumps on a horse for a small outfit that the horse is live. That’s out thinking here with this 3-year-old who is being ridden by leading jockey Antonio Gallardo for trainer Teresa Connelly, who has had just eight starters at the meet.
