Preview: Turf horses get a three-week rest as the circuit moves south to the dirt only Los Alamitos. The No. 1 post isn’t necessarily the best either in sprints or routes. One jockey note: David Lopez has lost his apprentice bug and is a journeyman now. It will be interesting to see who supports him. The circuit is now crying out our for an outstanding apprentice.
Race 2 – LRC
#5 Slew Keyty (6-1): This filly makes a comeback after an 11 month layoff and trainer Paul Aguirre is 39% with horses off a layoff of more than 90 days. His main man, jockey Iggy Puglisi, is aboard and they are 4-for-12 the last year at Los Al.
Race 5 – LRC
#3 Speedin With Eddie (9-2): This 3-year-old gets a big jock switch to Mario Gutierrez, who rides No. 1 for Reddam Racing, and if they didn’t think this gelding had some talent they certainly would have dropped into the maiden claiming ranks already. Blinkers go on here.
