Horse racing, Tampa Bay Downs

Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Thursday, Feb. 25

Preview: Not a good card as the five-day weeks are getting in the way of bigger fields. There was a 90% chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday so we’re going to guess they are going to be off the turf and this will cut down field size even more.

Race 1 – Tam

#5 Course I’ll Wynn (5-1)

Like we’ve said before trainer Kathleen O’Connell has had a good meet and drops this mare into a straight claimer for the first time in a while. The 8-year-old also has a 4-2-1-0 off track record.

Race 2 – Tam

#1 Taverni Bay (3-1)

This gelding has been running exclusively in South Florida and now travels north looking to get his confidence back. Trainer Rasharm Creque takes over and he’s 37% the first time he runs a horse.

Race 8 – Tam

#1 Steve Came Thru (8-1)

Our Eyes: This gelding finished second over the track and takes a step up in class for trainer Kathleen O’Connell. If it comes up wet, all the better as the 5-year-old has a 4-2-0-1 mark on off track. Jockey Ronnie Allen is 27% with O’Connell at the meet.
