Tampa Bay Downs opinions for Friday, March 20

Race 4: #10 Be Thankful (turf only) (NL)

The son of Summer Bird is trying turf and two turns for the first time. Summer Bird produces 18% first-time winners on the grass. Trainer Chad Stewart is 24% first time turf and first time route plus he’s 22% sprint to route.

Race 8: #5 Elite Eight (turf only) (NL)

This 4-year-old filly finished a troubled fourth in her first race in 14 months in her last race. She pulled and steadied and now gets a jockey change to veteran Gary Boulanger for trainer Tom Proctor.

Race 10: #7 Sarge Hudson (turf only) (NL)

This 6-year-old won at this level on the grass two back, but finished a well beaten third on the main track in a race rained off the grass in his last. Throw that race out. All six of this gelding’s wins are on grass. Tab the return to the green.
