FIRST RACE: 1. Artemisia, 2. Appealing Lady, 3. Take Back Spring. LONG SHOT: Moonie.
SECOND RACE: 1. Stuffed Animal (SCRATCHED), 3. Jet Trick. LONG SHOT: Chester B. New picks: 1. Jimbaran Bay, 2. Afleet in Time, 3. Jet Trick. LONG SHOT: Momma Tried.
THIRD RACE: 1. Regally Soul, 2. Barrel Knot, 3. Royal F J. LONG SHOT: Monument.
FOURTH RACE: 1. Ipolita (best bet), 2. Oeighter, 3. Salsita. LONG SHOT: Adellusion.
Trainer Ron Ellis is an amazing 52% from a 25-horse sample with horses coming off a 61-180-day layoff. IPOLITA (8-1), a 3-year-old filly, has been idle since breaking her maiden at Del Mar. She has tactical speed which should be good for jockey Drayden Van Dyke at this 7-furlong distance.
FIFTH RACE: 1. Go Black Tie, 2. Counting Days, 3. Van Fraaseen. LONG SHOT: Newport Red.
SIXTH RACE: 1. Foolhardy, 2. Dress Code, 3. Friendly Banter. LONG SHOT: Accelerant.
SEVENTH RACE: 1. Gracie Ragazza, 2. Best Efforts, 3. Baruta. LONG SHOT: Malibu Honey.
EIGHTH RACE: 1. Odisseia, 2. Aguafria, 3. Hijra. LONG SHOT: Winning Rhythm.
ODISSEIA (10-1), a 3-year-old filly, came over from England and was overmatched in the Grade I Del Mar Oaks. She is at a more realistic level here for trainer Phil D’Amato. The filly was off a bit slow and got squeezed in her first start. Jockey Joe Talamo rides back and should have a better idea how to handle her.
NINTH RACE: 1. Here’s Bella, 2. She’s Discreet, 3. Gisele At Fonz’s. LONG SHOT: Southern Owah.
