Santa Anita opinions for Sunday, May 4

Sorry, no full picks today. Just worn out after Derby Day. Check me out on Twitter, Jeff_Nahill, to see if I have any opinions. Thanks for reading.

Race 1: #1 Dublin Up (SCRATCHED)

The Peter Miller barn is starting to heat up again after a slow last two months. He won two races on Friday. Here we have a maiden who finished fourth in the Santa Anita Derby, finishing 9¼ lengths behind Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome, dropping back into the maiden ranks. That worked for Rprettyboyfloyd on Friday. Here’s hoping for a repeat.

Race 6: #12 Solid Wager

We’ll continue out theme in this race as Peter Miller brings back this 3-year-old gelding, who was last seen at Del Mar where he was a 3-1 favorite over California Chrome in the Graduation Stakes. Miller is 31% with horses for a +180-day layoff.

Race 8: #1 Causeithertz

It isn’t often we pick a Bob Baffert-trainee on the grass, but this 7-year-old gelding seems to be the only closer in a race full of speed horses. Leading jockey Rafael Bejarano, who won four races on Friday, should be smart enough to let the leaders fight it out and pick up the pieces in the stretch. Also, Baffert is 36% in claiming races.
