FIRST RACE: 1. Pawn Shop, 2. Tribal Rain, 3. Cee’s the Year. LONG SHOT: Fiesta Express.
SECOND RACE: 1. Sarangani, 2. Alydidit, 3. Blue Collar Boy. LONG SHOT: Public Defender.
THIRD RACE: 1. Ryderoo, 2. Flaxen Maiden, 3. Dow Diva. LONG SHOT: Sagebrush Queen.
FOURTH RACE: 1. HANDSOME SAM (best bet), 2. King Maya, 3. Honored Hero. LONG SHOT: Masochistic.
HANDSOME SAME might be the final horse to start out of that powerful maiden claiming race Aug. 29 at Del Mar which has produced four winners so far. This 3-year-old gelding had trouble at the start but managed to finish eight of 12. Our enthusiasm for this play is tempered a little bit by the fact that jockey Joe Talamo jumps off to ride King Maya (#6) and drawing the No. 1 post. Up until last week there had been no winners out of that slot in dirt sprints at Santa Anita, but the streak was broken three times so maybe the inside is getting better.
FIFTH RACE: 1. Navarre, 2. Airfoil, 3. Valtari. LONG SHOT: Snaps.
SIXTH RACE: 1. Frenemy, 2. Afflication, 3. Bobby Flay. LONG SHOT: Rule Breaker.
SEVENTH RACE: 1. Queit Force, 2. Power Ped, 3. Spring Up. LONG SHOT: Poshsky.
EIGHTH RACE: 1. Arizona Wildcat, 2. Broker Brett, 3. Anytime. LONG SHOT: Alsace.
ARIZONA WILDCAT comes out of that Aug. 29 Del Mar key race (four winners so far) and he finished second at Fairplex Park after that but he came back with a big excuse as he was bleeding from the mouth. He also scratched from a race at Santa Anita, so here’s hoping he is healthy in this spot.
